What's your name and where are you from? Hi my name is Wayne, but everyone calls me Tiny as my friends named me this from a young age as I was always the smallest in the group. I am from London.
How long have you been taking pictures? I got my first DSLR camera in 2008 which was the Sony NEX from then I really got into photography.
When did you get into photography and why? I have been into photography for many years but been really serious about 5 years. It sort of started when I got a photographer to come and do a photo shoot for me and my family when I got the photos back I said to myself I could do this and that’s when I got into it.
What would you say your style is and has it changed throughout the years? If so why? I would say my style is a very grungy high contrast urban effect with a twist. Since I started it has changed so much. I used to just take photos and that was It, no editing at all, it was always photos of my kids and family and friends. I went on to doing my first photo shoot with my friend from the lovesick clothing brand then on to models and then to shooting with the likes of Callum Best and his clothing line as well.
How do you approach a shoot? Do you pre-plan or is it a click and run? Most of the time I pre-plan but sometimes you just can't so I just go with the flow.
Is there an end goal you’re trying to achieve with your images, be it an aesthetic or story?
My goal is just to make my images stand out from the crowd.
Do you have any influences you can share? Tattooed models really influence me as I'm fascinated by their art and goes with the themes I like to shoot.
What inspires you? The creativity of the editing really inspires me. I'm excited after a shoot to see the end result.
Is there such a thing as a bad photograph? Yes, you always get a bad photo in and amongst a batch of pictures whether it be bad lighting, or you caught the model off guard but that’s where I love the editing part as you can turn a bad pic into a good one.
Are you looking for a career in photography or are you just having fun?
Even though I do photography in my spare time I class myself as a professional photographer and one day will make this my full-time profession
Which social media platforms do you use and why? Instagram is my main go to media platform as I feel this is the best for show casing my art. I do upload on my facebook account but would always choose Instagram first
Which photographers do you mainly follow on social media? There are lots of photographers that I follow, but Jason Lannier specifically is a favourite. I watch a lot of his you tube videos and love the way he works.
What are your thoughts on mobile photography versus DSLR / mirrorless? The mobile phones today have brilliant cameras on them but in my opinion, they still can't beat a DSLR.
What’s your main go to camera, lenses and how did you make that choice? Canon 6D with the Sigma ART 35mm 1.4. My last camera was the Canon 600d, but I needed an up-grade so I went with the Canon 6d as there was a good deal on at the time and I really wanted full frame. The Sigma art lens is perfect for me and what I shoot.
What is your dream location to shoot at? Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Describe your favourite picture and how you captured it? There's too many I have taken thousands over the years.
In three words how would you describe your photography? Grungy, Urban, Art.
How would you describe the current scene in photography?
The scene at the moment…What I see is a lot of portrait artists, maybe it's just because I follow a lot of photographers in that line.
How do you feelabout higher quality cameras being put into smart phones? Better quality cameras in smart phones…. Tell you the truth, I don’t really care, I just do what I'm doing.
What are your thoughts on expensive cameras? Do you think they createbetter images? I don’t think they do, what do they say, a good work man never blames his tools. I saw a video not so long ago when a photographer had like a £10,000 set up and another guy had like a £500 set up and they both took the same photo and there was no difference at all.
