What is your name and where are you from? My name is Kyle, I am from Luckau, Germany. A small Town in the near from Berlin.
How long have you been taking pictures?
I have been taking pictures for about eight years.
When did you get into photography and why? I started making pictures with StockPhotos and Photoshop. But that did not last long and I needed my own photos. From then on I went fast and I've got everything that I know until today.
What would you say your style is and has it changed throughout the years? If so why? I don’t really know my style. It is mood-dependent. I do it how i like it.
How do you approach a shoot? Do you pre-plan or is it a click and run? It’s different. If I have a picture in my head, I plan it. I meet with the model and we go to visit different location. I show her/him what mood I want to have for it
But I like it also to get out play and improvise.
Is there an end goal you’re trying to achieve with your images, be it an aesthetic or story?
As well ... as. First and foremost, I have to find it beautiful, whether it makes sense or not. Portraits and landscapes do not always have a story to tell. but I also like to create stories with it.
Do you have an influences you can share? The only thing I can share is. Go out and try it until you are satisfied.
What inspires you? I am inspired by many things in my environment. Small things like the reflection of water on leaves, warm people or tv shows and magazines.
Is there such a thing as a bad photograph? Yes, if it has no heart or was made with it. The flood of pictures is so big that many people find it difficult to distinguish. There are really a lot of good photos and photographers out there but they often get lost in the Crowd.
Are you looking for a career in photography or are you just having fun?
not really. I like to do that and I would be afraid to lose something if I had to do it. until now it is always a want
Which social media platforms do you use and why? I use Instagram most of all. nothing distracts only photos that I find beautiful. I still have a facebook page but I have hardly used it for 2 years
Which photographers do you mainly follow on social media? Frederic Schlosser, Max Münch and Marie Baersch are my favourites. I love the style of their photos.
What are your thoughts on mobile photography versus DSLR / mirrorless? It is good to know that you always have something in your pocket to capture the moment. but nothing beats a real Camera.
What’s your main go to camera, lenses and how did you make that choice? My all-time favourite is the 50mm on both systems Nikon and Sony(apsc). 80% of my shots are made with these lenses. What is your dream location to shoot at? There are so many places I would like to discover and shot.
Describe your favourite picture and how you captured it? I do not have THE favourite Photo but a moment i really liked was in the Netherlands. I was traveling by bike and saw a deer eating on the dune. He did not notice me for a long time. I'm down and want to get closer. I already had the camera ready when he saw me and run away. Just before he had disappeared behind the next dune, he stopped and let me photographed him. That was a nice and quiet moment. and that's it what I love photography for.
In three words how would you describe your photography? Calm, mellow, detail & love.
How do you feel about better quality cameras being put into smart phones? I like new technology. So I'm curious what else to come to us.
What are your thoughts on expensive cameras? Do you think they create better images?. qualitatively in any case. In the digital world of smartphones, that may not have been that big, but at the latest when you have a printed picture in your hand or look at the wall, you can see the difference. but to tell a story it does not matter.
