My name is Jonas David and I’m from Hannover, Germany.
How long have you been taking pictures?
I’ve been taking pictures now for 5 years, but the first 3 1/2 years were more about Landscape/Architecture.
And portraits which you can find on my Instagram since March 2017.
When did you get into photography and why?
It was in 2013, when I bought my first camera - the Canon EOS 600d. Im also a Beatmaker / Sounddesigner and my intention was to put both together - picture & sound. Failed. Just took pictures of whatever I saw and felt good with, whether it was some stairways, a nice building, a beautiful sunset or someone I don’t know walking down the street. Just did it, without think a lot about it. Then I started to take some portraits, in- & outdoor. And also filmed some music videos.
What would you say your style is and has it changed throughout the years? If so why?
Creative-portrait-photography!? It’s hard to define my own style, Its just me - JDP.
How do you approach a shoot? Do you pre-plan or is it a click and run?
If it is a pay-shoot. I prepare. because some of them have wishes. But I love to freestyle, walk around, talking about anything and just shoot with what I feel, everything I see.
Is there an end goal you’re trying to achieve with your images, be it an aesthetic or story?
I just do what I love, hope it’ll never end. At the end I love to see when people are happy with the results. Memories live forever.
Do you have an influences you can share?
Just get up, get out.. Watch movies, have a look at other photographers work, but always try to do your own style!
What inspires you?
Many photographers I see daily on Instagram for example. But the main influence is the energy I get during a shoot or when I just walk through the city. Art is everywhere.
Is there such a thing as a bad photograph?
I think everyone else is seeing things different, so no.
Are you looking for a career in photography or are you just having fun?
The main reason why I do this, is because it makes me happy and fulfills me. I also photograph weddings, babys, or business portraits to earn some money. I have some dreams, always following them. Maybe one day it comes true.
Which social media platforms do you use and why?
You can only find me on Instagram ( @jonasdavidphotography )

Which photographers do you mainly follow on social media?
There are way too many. Everyone got something special.
What are your thoughts on mobile photography versus DSLR / mirrorless?
With DSLR’s you can do more in the post production, or if you want to print your work on a big screen, its way better. I always shoot in RAW. Capture good moments depends on who is behind the camera, no matter what gear.

I think its all about the man behind the camera, you can also take great pictures with a disposable camera.
